MINISTRIES

"It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelist, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare Gods people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."

Ephesians 4:11-13

There are many areas of ministry beyond being a pastor. We believe that our church provides a number of areas for you to minister in or be ministered to.

Music Ministries

Our vision is that our lives would reflect Christ, that we might draw closer together as a Ministry Team, that we would use our specific giftedness to lead Timothy to a life of worship, and that we would creatively and actively share our faith in the Muskogee area.Timothy choir members are called out by God to share Christ through worship and song and to use their talents to bring glory to Christ and play an active role every service. As a choir member you will also be able to make connections and develop lasting friendships with other Christians who share a love for music. If you have a desire to use your talent and love for music, and want to commit this part of your service to God, then Timothy Choir is the place for you.

Timothy Choir has scheduled practices every Sunday, at 4:15.

Children's Ministries

Matthew 19:14 "Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these."

The Children's Ministries at Timothy consist of Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. and Discipleship Training Classes at 6:00 p.m. These Bible study classes give our children the opportunity to learn more about Jesus, how to love and serve others, how important it is to learn the scriptures and put them into practice in their daily lives.

Children's Church

Acts 20:28 "Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of god, Which he bought with his own blood."

Children's Church is available for children 4 years old through 3rd grade. Children's Church gives us the opportunity to "shepherd" our little "flock", by teaching them how important it is to worship God in a way they can understand. Our children are given the chance to participate in the Children's services by taking up the offerings, and praying in a group setting, as well as learning Bible lessons that relate to their everyday lives.

Children are able to sit with their parents during the beginning of each Worship Service on Sunday morning, then they are dismissed to Children's Church by the pastor. This allows for fewer distractions while the pastor is bringing Gods message.

During the evening service, children from the age of 4 years old to those who have yet to enter the 1st grade, are given the opportunity to worship in their own service. This is service is led by Gay Grandstaff.

Wednesday Night Missions Classes

Matthew 28:19 "Go ye therefore and teach all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit."

Our Wednesday Night Missions Classes take place during our regular Wednesday night services and consist of our Mission Friends for our tiny ones, ages 2-5. RA's (Royal Ambassadors) for the boys, and GA's (Girls in Action) for the girls, for children in grades 1-5.

Mission classes are set up to teach our children the importance of reaching others for Christ. Our children learn about specific Missionaries who are supported by our church through our Association. They pray for missionaries, write letters and send school supplies to children in other countries.

Y.E.M. Club - Director Stephanie Payne

Y.E.M. stands for Young Exalting Musicians. Y.E.M. Club is for children in grades 1-5. We meet every Wednesday after school until 6:15 p.m. If your child goes to school in the Muskogee school system, in Fort Gibson, or Hilldale schools, he or she can be picked up from school and transported to Timothy Baptist Church. Where they will do their homework, have a snack, have devotion time, have recreation or crafts, and then have choir practice time.

If you would like more information about Y.E.M. Club, or if you would like to help, please contact the church.

M.O.B. - Director Joy Morgan

M.O.B. stands for Mouths of Babes. M.O.B. is for our children ages 2-5. Every Wednesday during our evening worship service your child will have a 15 - 20 minute break from Mission Friends to start learning new songs, and learning how to sing in a group as a way of preparing him or her for Y.E.M. Club.

Nursery - Director Rhonda Warlick

There are Nursery facilities available for children up to 4 years of age. Babies up to 2 years old are kept in our infant nursery, and 2-4 year olds are kept in our toddler nursery. If you are looking for a place to serve, and you love to be around babies and toddlers, we have a place for you. Our Nursery services are available for every Worship service, as well as Choir practice, Sunday School, Discipleship Training, and special services.

Women's Missionary Union

May we never be satisfied with simply knowing the needs of others, but moved to action through genuine compassion. True believers show their faith by their works. Opportunities for ministry can be found all around us. We have W.M.U. activities each month. For more information contact Cheri Harkreader, Norma Holdridge, Darcy Moydell, Joy Payne or Linda Wood.

The Brotherhood

Our purpose is to initiate, and participate in mission opportunities. The Brotherhood is a men's mission group that actively participates in projects working with our building and grounds committee, in regards to lawn care for the elderly and widowed and our church property. We also enjoy our ministry at Grace Living Center, and other city-wide ministries as well as working with our young boys RA groups, and our young men in Impact Student Ministries. There are many ways to serve here at Timothy, and we encourage you to join us. For more information about the Brotherhood contact Ron Dean, Rick Parson, J.B. Mannon, Kenny Payne or Brian Phelps.

Impact Student Ministries

Impact Student Ministries of Timothy Baptist Church provides resources for students and parents to aid and enhance the spiritual growth of the family and its individual members understanding and fulfilling our Lord's Great commission. It is our goal to create an atmosphere that challenges every young person to become a leader for the lord Jesus Christ.

Our young people at timothy Baptist church are absolutely first-rate. They pride themselves on being part of a Christian fellowship that cares and shares with one another, and that also reaches out beyond our doors to a community in need. It's this kind of wholesome interaction that helps teenagers grow in the right direction by putting their faith into practice.

Our motto is "Give us one try." Many lives have been changed by Jesus Christ. Timothy Baptist Church is simply an outlet for the power of Jesus Christ to be unveiled. Without Him, we are nothing. Life gets very rocky at times, to say the least. The membership of Timothy Baptist Church believes that god has given us instruction to love people into a relationship with Him, not to add to the "rockiness" of life.

We hold to the conviction that God intends for the church to be a "Lighthouse" in a dark world. If you are looking for a church that will love you, lead you to God's word for instruction, correction, and leadership, and stand with you in good times and bad, then you need to "Give us one try."

Therefore, it is our prayer and vision for the students of Timothy that those who believe in Jesus Christ will share their beliefs with the lost that all may be one... May we be brought to complete unity to let the world know that Jesus is the answer!!!

Impact Student Ministries meets every Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at the church. What are you doing this Wednesday night?

Sunday School & Discipleship Training

1 John 1:14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld hi glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

John 8:31 "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed."

In order for God's word to be in us we must be in the Word. Sunday School and Discipleship Training are for all ages. This is where we learn to follow God's direction in our lives, to act with integrity at all times, to be faithful to our God given responsibilities, act humbly, and decide on ways we can be kind to others. Sunday School and Discipleship Training is where we learn to put God's word to practical use in our daily lives. Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday morning, Discipleship Training is every Sunday evening at 5:30 p.m. God will guide people who seek and follow His direction.
